Changes to the Lexus RX for the 2020 Model Year
Back in the late nineties, Lexus invented the luxury crossover segment with its very first RX SUV. We’ve come a long way since then, and there are now four models of the RX: the gas-powered 350 and three-row 350l, and their hybrid brethren, the 450h and 450hL. Every year, Lexus brings new improvements to these models.
As of this writing, the 2020 Lexus RX models are right around the corner, slated to arrive in late August. But heck, you’re probably reading this in the future when these vehicles are already here. We envy you- what a world you live in!
If that’s the case, you probably know that the 2020 RX 350 starts around $44,000, and the 2020 RX 450h around $47,000. But what you may still not know is what changes Lexus made to its premier model line for 2020. To cure that lack of knowledge, read on.

Exterior Styling
The 2020 Lexus RX exterior is beefed up with a new front grille, LED headlights and LED taillights. These nice shiners not only look better, but they shine better, using tech known as LED-powered BladeScan Type AHS. This lighting technology widely illuminates the road without searing the eyeballs of oncoming drivers.
Additionally, there are newly standard eighteen-inch wheels, along with two new exterior colors: Moonbeam Beige Metallic and Nori Green Pearl.

Optimized Design and Performance
The body of the 2020 Lexus RX models is strengthened thanks to a hefty amount of additional weld-points under the sheet metal and refinements in construction. This results in improved handling as well as better noise isolation. The ride is tighter than ever before, and maneuverability is sharp. However, thanks to a reworked suspension system, the cloudlike smooth drive the RX is known for is not lost to the wind.
A kick sensor added to the rear liftgate increases convenience, while new seating position configurations for the third row of such equipped models expands versatility.

Safety and Interior Tech
The interior environments of the 2020 Lexus RX models enjoy a variety of upgraded convenience and safety touches. This includes the addition of a new touchscreen that boasts, yes, standard compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The location of the system has been adjusted for easier usability, and voice control has been upgraded, now including Amazon Alexa capability.
Safety wise, the 2020 RX models enjoy the debut of Lexus’ new Safety System+ 2.0. This suite includes:
- Pedestrian/cyclist detection
- Lane keeping assist
- Adaptive cruise control
- Intelligent high beams
- Lane departure alert
- Road sign assist
- Pre-collision protection
