2026 Lexus ES | A New Generation of Clean Tech x Elegance
The 2026 Lexus ES brings the eighth generation of the sedan to the public. Part of the excitement is certainly the first ES BEV (battery electric vehicle). However, the news isn’t limited to technology. There’s a whole new design to capture hearts and imaginations.
Welcoming Spaciousness
Building front the ground up, the Lexus engineering team added 3 inches to the wheelbase and 6.5 inches to the overall length. Even if the cabin hadn’t grown larger, it would feel larger thanks to the larger glass surface area and a general sense of openness. Compare it to the Acura TLX and enjoy the extra legroom.
Drivers will like their elevated seated position. It allows for easier entrance and exit. Plus it gives them a better view of the road. A low-profile meter hood housing sits above a distinctive 12.3-inch multi-information display. This ergonomic approach enables smooth eye movement for the busy driver.
From a lush suede to a special finish, surfaces have been given careful attention. On the doors, 3D printing allowed for a realistic Bamboo Layering that mimics the natural depth and flow of bamboo. Also new, Synthetic Leather Embossing adds more visual interest. Enriching this scene, thematic ambient illumination adds the play of dark, light and color. These elements are all part of the brand’s tazuna concept.
High-Tech Integration
The cockpit matches the 12.3-in MID screen with a 14-inch touchscreen. Of course wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on board.
This is the first application of an all-new Lexus Interface. Drivers will appreciate the convenience of an onscreen home button. Navigation and other uses are easier with split-screen capability. In fact, map functionality is now integrated with the digital gauge cluster. Also upgraded, a Voice Assistant is faster thanks to quicker response times.
A Mark Levinson Surround Sound System includes immersive speaker placement. This brings to life a three-dimensation soundstage for listeners.
Special Accomodations
For the first time, the Lexus ES will be offered with an Executive Package. This elevates the luxury on the second row, bringing in more in line with what’s available for the driver and front seat passenger.
Reclining rear seats are just the beginning. You can put your feet up with the passenger side ottoman. The outboard rear seats offer massage to melt stress away. Speaking of melt, if it is a hot Phoenix summer day, these seats are ventilated to cool you off quickly. Of course, they are also heated just in case it’s cold.
These features are unique in the luxury midsize sedan marketplace, and that’s sure to set the ES apart.
Improved Handling
Luxury lovers are familiar with the ES 350h powertrain. This is its sixth generation, and it is expected to offer higher battery output. An integrated eAxle cleverly combines the transaxle and the power control unit. This design keeps weight and size under control.
Helping the driver enjoy the ride more, this car rides on a new platform. It was built to accommodate the hybrid (HEV) and electric (BEV) powertrains. Care was taken to reinforce the structure, ensuring rigidity that discourages body vibrations. All in all, the result is a more refined cabin experience.
Drivers will notice that the 2026 Lexus ES 350h is more responsive, has sharper steering, and smooth acceleration and deceleration. Aiding vehicle posture control, the ES now has a multi-link rear suspension matched to its MacPherson strut front suspension.
New Electric ES Models
The 2026 Lexus ES 350e has a spacious cabin with its large battery pack carefully placed to ensure interior comfort. It also helps the ES 350e maintain a good center of gravity, assisting handling.
As a front-wheel drive electric vehicle, the ES 350e claims an estimated range of 300 miles!
This electric range will certainly attract many drivers to this BEV.
However, the 2026 ES 500e adds more capability and DIRECT4 AWD. This all-wheel drivetrain can move torque to all four wheels as needed. Engineers managed to achieve This system can move the drive force from front to back at perfect ratios of 100:0 or 0:100, if needed. The electric driving range is estimated at 250 miles.
