Under the hood, this Lexus packs in a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine that can output up to 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. On top of that, this engine is mounted to a Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission.

On the surface, you will not notice many design differences between the LC 500 Convertible and a normal LC 500, and that’s very much on purpose. Making a convertible doesn’t look like a difficult process, but that is far from the truth.
The roof of a modern coupe, like the LC 500, is very much a structural part of the car. This is especially true when it comes to a model that is this performance-oriented. Cutting out the roof requires a lot of structural redesigning to ensure that the car is still rigid enough to handle properly.

To keep the LC 500 Convertible strong, more structure has been added under the car’s skin. The center of gravity has also been lowered for superior handling and performance. On top of all this, active roll bars have been added. In the event of an accident, these bars deploy upward protecting the occupants but still staying hidden during normal operation to maintain that striking appearance.
