2025 Lexus GX Review

The 2025 Lexus GX strikes a handsome, powerful pose -- whether dressed in one of its 11 rich exterior colors or sporting a black roof for contrast. Every element has been chosen for beauty, function, or both.

Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a 3.4-liter twin turbo V6 cranks out 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. That’s excellent even compared to the V8 of previous generations. Adding to the fun of a GX 500 Overtrail Model, Crawl Control has five low-speed settings and is capable of both forward and reverse driving. A Multi-terrain Monitor provides four views including what’s under the vehicle. 

All-wheel drive L4 has four multi-terrain modes, including sand, mud and rock. AWD H4 has five modes, including dirt, sand, mud and snow.

The standard pre-collision system includes forward watch, pedestrian detection, and related autobrake capability. It goes even further with left turn oncoming vehicle detection and related autobrake. An emergency steer assist provides essential risk avoidance in certain scenarios.

Ensuring a safe forward trajectory, the lane departure alert is active at speeds over 32 mph. It can activate a steering assist if corrective action is needed.  Road Sign Assist places information about relevant signage on the large digital instrument panel.

Automatic assistance goes even further with full-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and a related lane tracing assist.  Also standard, a proactive driving assist provides braking and steering support in some scenarios.
