An Overview of Features and Systems found in the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0

Staying safe on the road has always been a major factor when looking to purchase a car in 2020. But Lexus enthusiasts need not worry, as all new 2020 models now come with the standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. The new system addresses the three most common accident types: frontal collisions, unintended lane departures, and nighttime accidents. At Earnhardt Lexus, we decided to investigate this attractive standard suite of safety features – follow along below!

Frontal and Driving Protection Features of the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0

While on the road, you may encounter scenarios where potential dangers come at you and you need assistance just before a potential accident. The Standard safety system has you covered with its host of Pre-Collision System offerings. These include various cameras and sensors which can find potential pedestrians or bicyclists and prepare Brake Assist or apply brakes in some cases. Lexus models with the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 also receive All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with All-Speed Range, which allows for:
  • Low-speed following
  • Speed matching
  • Stopping
  • Acceleration/deceleration

Unintended Lane Departures and Nighttime Accident Protection

Not only does the Lexus Safety System+ help predict and protect you from the front, but it can also aid you on the sides and during nighttime conditions. New to the standard package with Lane Departure alert is the additional Lane Tracing and Road Sign Assist. Lane Tracing interacts with the Dynamic Cruise control to keep the vehicle centered while cruise control keeps you at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Meanwhile, you can stay safe at night with Intelligent High beams, which will automatically turn your high beams on or off depending on if it senses oncoming headlights or taillights. The Pre-Collision system also allows for the detection of pedestrians and bicyclists in low-light conditions.
