EXTERIOR COLORS, STYLES AND PRICING

The blue of Grecian Water is just one way to personalize your UX Hybrid. There are many fun 2023 UX exterior colors including Cadmium Orange, the exciting Redline, and unique Nori Green Pearl. Other color choices have interesting names like Iridium, Cloudburst Gray, Eminent White Pearl, and Caviar.

Different from the 2022 Lexus UX 200, the new model year comes in 8 packages that are all hybrids. The standard 250h model can be upgraded to Premium, F Sport Design, and F Sport Handling. All four trim levels come with the buyer’s choice of front wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

For the price, the Lexus hybrid SUV remains one of the best deals in the compact luxury crossover market. Its hybrid fuel efficiency adds to its low ownership costs. If you are comparing it to the BMW X1, you will notice there’s $1000 to $3000 savings at the outset.

Plus the Lexus matches and surpasses the BMW X1 package. The value-rich UX outshines its more expensive rival by providing adaptive cruise control, a power passenger seat, more driver assistance standards, and more infotainment standards.

DRIVABILITY

The 2023 model year saw a focus on drivability. Among the improvements, the chassis has been reinforced with 20 welding points for greater structural strength. Shock absorbers were recalibrated.

The electronic power steering was further sharpened for a better response. Crisp and predictable, the aim is to reduce oversteer at high speeds and understeer at slow speeds. In addition, the new F Sport Handling package is available, adding adaptive dampers to the SUV for more refined drivability.

PERFORMANCE

The intelligent four-cylinder hybrid powertrain can be paired with front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrains. The Lexus UX 250h demonstrates the quiet refinement you’d expect from a luxury ride. Fuel economy is 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. That’s 39 miles per gallon in combined driving.

Producing 181 horsepower overall, the hybrid utilizes an Atkinson-cycle 2.0-liter inline 4 that generates 143 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque. To that it adds an induction AC motor and a permanent-magnet synchronous AC motor.

One motor takes the burden of cabin electrical systems off of the powertrain. The other assists the 4 cylinder engine and helps boost output to 181 horsepower. When a third motor is added for all-wheel drive, there are two electric motors contributing to the powertrain. It is placed where it can control power to the rear wheels.

Warranties are excellent, covering the powertrain up to 70,000 miles or six years. In another nice move, Lexus provides complimentary maintenance for up to 10,000 miles or one year.

F SPORT APPEARANCE AND F SPORT HANDLING

The F Sport trim level is focused on appearance. It has exterior extras that emphasize fun and athleticism. The front is recognizable by its trim-specific bumpers and a dressed up grille. Special lighting includes fog lights and unique cornering lamps that look ahead on curves and turns.

A black roof provides a contrast with the owner’s choice of body color. From the side, you’ll notice the sporty 18-inch alloy wheels and painted arch moldings. Adding easy access, the new Digital Key is standard. Drivers can use their smartphone in place of the physical key.

On both F Sport models, there’s a special steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and sport seats, adding an athletic emphasis to the cabin. Of course, it has a moonroof to open up the cabin to more natural light.

F Sport Handling models have a few more trim specific details such as an aluminum footrest and special scuff plate. This trim level focuses its upgrades on handling and performance. It has a sport-tuned adaptive suspension, performance dampers, and 18-inch wheels.

PREMIUM AND LUXURY TRIM LEVELS

Premium models add ventilated front seats, always a favorite considering how hot Arizona summers are. Other aspects of this trim level include heated front seats and a moonroof. Rain-sensing wipers are an additional exterior driver aid.

The Hybrid UX Luxury trim includes all of the premium features. It certainly has the most luxurious cabin with top amenities and the top available options. Power-folding side mirrors with memory settings are standard along with a hands-free power liftgate.

A 12.3-inch touch screen adds navigation for turn-by-turn directions and contemporary maps. This improved infotainment system has two microphones. This allows the front passenger to interact with the multimedia system and the automatic climate controls. Seat detection directs the sound. Enhanced noise cancellation keeps the ride quiet.

Other tech toys include an 8-speaker premium audio system and a wireless charger. The wireless charging area has been upgraded with special LED lighting and more vertical space.

SAFETY AND DRIVER ASSISTANCE FEATURES

2023 driver assistance goes above and beyond what many would expect from a luxury SUV at this price point. Among the standard safety features, the automatic emergency braking system includes a forward collision alert and pedestrian detection.

This advanced system now watches for pedestrians crossing toward the vehicle’s trajectory and spots oncoming cars that may interfere with safe right or left turns. It can even spot people in low light. The Emergency Steering Assist, not available on many other standard luxury SUVs, is added to enhance what the system can do to avoid trouble.

A lane keeping assist is part of the standard lane departure warning. Plus, the adaptive cruise control includes lane centering for a more automated system. AI technology allows for further refinement of lane tracing assist. With curve control, the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control can do even more with all-speed tracking.
